Four kinds of hotel, documented with the same care.

Gametensis is an independent editorial index. It covers art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels — sixteen properties, described in prose, with no ratings, no reviews and nothing for sale.

  • 01 Art Hotels Hotels where the collection, the commissions or the building itself are the reason to stay.
  • 02 Capsule Hotels Compact sleeping berths run at scale, judged on layout, quiet and the quality of the shared floors.
  • 03 Casino Hotels Full-service hotels that happen to hold a licensed gaming floor among their facilities.
  • 04 Ice Hotels Seasonal hotels rebuilt each winter from snow and ice, with warm accommodation alongside.

Every property here is a hotel first. What makes it unusual — a collection, a berth, a gaming floor, a wall of river ice — is described as one feature of a building, not as its whole identity.

Method

The categories were set before the properties were chosen, and each one holds four hotels. That constraint is deliberate. A longer list would let weaker entries in on the strength of the category alone, and an open-ended index would quietly become a directory — a different thing, with different incentives.

Entries are written as prose because prose can carry qualification and a specification table cannot. A hotel is rarely well described by a row of matched fields; the interesting part is usually the exception, the caveat, or the reason a building looks the way it does. Where a short fact is genuinely useful, it sits beneath the description as a plain line of labels rather than pretending to be data.

We do not publish star ratings, guest reviews, prices or availability, and we do not operate a booking function. Nothing in this index is paid for, and no hotel has been given the opportunity to approve what is written about it. Details change — buildings close for refurbishment, seasonal properties shift their dates, facilities come and go — so anything time-sensitive should be confirmed with the hotel before you travel.

The index is geographically neutral. Properties were selected because they illustrate their category well, not because they sit in a particular market, and no country is treated as the default reader's home.
